Tom is a life-long outdoorsman, adventurer, and jack of all trades. He was born and raised here in Anchorage, Alaska and spent most of his childhood exploring the wild parts of South-central Alaska.
After graduating from Washington State University with his bachelor’s degree, Tom commissioned into the Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant. As a Marine Officer, he served as an Assault Amphibian Platoon Commander, a regimental Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival, and deployed to the Middle East as a Current Operations Officer for the regional Psychological Operations headquarters.
As a Platoon Commander, Tom led 50 U.S. Marines and Sailors and managed more than $65 million dollars of government equipment. He also trained extensively with foreign national militaries from all over the Asia-Pacific region and executed tactical logistics in support of over 3000 Marines. In his spare time, Tom also served as 3rd Marine Regiment’s Instructor of Water Survival where he trained Marines and Sailors in basic through advanced water survival techniques, practices, and procedures.
All good things must come to an end, however, and the Marines sent Tom overseas to manage the day-to-day operations of the Joint Psychological Operations command responsible for the entire Middle East. Here, Tom conducted Psychological Operations, managed all international personnel movements, and conducted operational logistics throughout the region.
After that deployment, Tom left the Marines to pursue a career in Logistics in the civilian world. Tom worked his way through his Master’s degree in Global Supply Chain Management as an Order Writer and Butcher for Whole Foods Market. After completing his degree, Tom and his wife were finally able to move home to Alaska and start their new lives in the North.
When not manning the front desk or assisting with training operations at LTR, Tom can be found exploring the Chugach Mountains, fishing the Kenai, or soaking in his wood-fired hot tub.
